On 12 May 2012, the PA3i Cebu Chapter organized a seminar workshop entitled “Seminar WS on Mitigating Risk in Work Places through Non Violent Communication” at the CPA Review Center of the University of San Carlos Downtown Campus. Participants come from 23 agencies. These agencies included mostly Cebu schools and universities such as the University of San Carlos, University of Cebu, Southwestern University, University of the Visayas, St. Theresa’s College and Cebu Doctors University and Bohol’s Holy Name University. There were also business and non-government organizations such as Wellmade Motors, Bon-Ace Fashion Tools Inc., China Bank, Cebu CASAGAL, Women and Children Protection Care and OPSF. Meanwhile, CHEDRO-7, PPA-DOJ-7, DOH-CHD-7, MMC-7, NYC-7, NEDA-7, the Lapulapu City Prosecution Office and OSETC Philippines are among the government agencies. LGU participation included representatives from Barangays Binaliw and Budlaan.
The workshop is a component of one of the chapter’s key projects on risk management to promote well-being in work places. It has generated awareness on violence-related risks in workplaces and identified the need for in-depth workshop or training on non-violent communication techniques and to advance this approach to other agencies and/or non-participating institutions.
